Taco Pizza: Pretty Great

DSC_0272-2.jpg

Taco Pizza is an Iowa thing, and WHAT a thing it is: a crust fortified with malt syrup is topped with refried black beans, pizza sauce, mozz, cheddar, and taco-seasoned beef. Post-bake it gets lettuce, tomato, smashed-up taco flavored chips (regular degular Doritos are not that), and mild taco sauce. It rules.

I asked a lot of people for guidance on the recipe. Everyone I know who worked at an authentic pizza joint said stuff came in commissary-style. One Chicago fella who runs a place with a decent taco pizza never texted me back : (

BUT I PERSERVERED. And I think it’s pretty good.

Get the recipe over on The Takeout.
