Writing for Craft Beer & Brewing is an intimidating thing every single time. A passionate group of readers whose hobby is obsessively measuring and comparing things? Best bring the A game. That said, the (non-white) Alabama White Sauce recipe I created for this issue is one of the top 5 most surprising and delightful things I’ve ever made. Like, go make it, slather it on some good smoked cue, and I’ll eat my words (via Venmo) if you don’t enjoy it.

Also, please make your own barbecue sauce. It’s going to be better than store-bought every single time.
