Good day, and good mental health. (And so-so recipes.)

Coffee, Niles?

Coffee, Niles?

When you’ve watched Frasier all the way through 11 or 12 times (which I have), any tiny scrap of new Dr. Crane content is welcome. Even Cafe Nervosa: The Connoisseur's Cookbook, the out-of-print cookbook that carries the official endorsement of the show’s producers. Let’s peruse the delightfully fussy bookflap description, shall we?

With the utmost magnanimity and a whopping dollop of cheek, Frasier and Niles serve up these divine delicacies from the famed Cafe Nervosa. Now you can savor the delicious wit of this urbane duo as they offer you a sampling of favorites from Seattle's most discriminating palates - theirs, of course. These coffeehouse favorites - nearly 100 of them - were prepared and tested behind the scenes at Southern Living Books to assure gustatory greatness. And scrumptious quotes from Frasier help set the mood. Join our snide shrinks for a wealth of good food and frippery in the pages of Frasier Cafe Nervosa The Connoisseur's Cookbook. It's where the elite meet. Come along. Indulge.

I grabbed a copy from eBay and put it through its paces. Will the combination of 1990s food writing and television cash-in sink this Culinary Hindenburg? Kinda, yeah, but it’s still a pretty fun read.
